Precision Hood To Cowl Seal CS 1700 78 is a direct-fit weatherseal designed to restore the gap between the hood and cowl. It creates a reliable barrier against water, dust and road debris, reduces wind noise and prevents moisture from entering the engine bay and passenger compartment. Made from durable, weather-resistant rubber compound, this seal resists compression set, UV and ozone exposure for long-lasting performance. Ideal for restoration and maintenance projects, it delivers an OEM-style fit for consistent sealing and simple installation.
Features:
- Direct-fit hood-to-cowl seal (CS 1700 78) for restoration and maintenance applications.
- Constructed from durable, weather-resistant rubber to resist UV, ozone and compression set.
- Seals hood-to-cowl gap to prevent water intrusion, dust entry and road debris damage.
- Helps reduce wind noise and improves climate control efficiency by sealing the firewall area.
- OEM-style profile for consistent fit and appearance; restores factory sealing performance.
- Simple replacement reduces corrosion and prolongs interior and engine-bay component life.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 30–60 minutes
Instructions:
- Open the hood and support it securely.
- Remove the old seal: pry out retaining clips or adhesive and peel away the old weatherstrip.
- Clean the mounting surface thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol or degreaser; remove old adhesive and debris and allow to dry.
- Test-fit the new seal along the cowl and hood edge to verify orientation and fit before final installation.
- If adhesive is recommended, apply a thin, even bead of weatherstrip cement to the mounting surface per the adhesive manufacturer's directions.
- Starting at one end, press the new seal into place along the cowl/hood mating surface, ensuring the seal lip seats properly and any holes align with existing clips.
- If clips or fasteners are used, reinstall them to secure the seal. Trim any excess material with a utility knife for a clean fit.
- Close the hood gently and inspect the seam for even compression and proper alignment. Reopen and adjust if necessary.
- Allow adhesive to cure as directed (if used) before driving.
