Features:
- Two-piece kit includes left- and right-hand door weatherstrip seals (DWP 1710 78).
- Constructed from high-quality, weather-resistant rubber for long-lasting performance.
- Seals out water, dust and drafts while reducing wind noise and vibration.
- Direct-fit replacement with areas that can be trimmed for a precise fit where required.
- Restoration- and maintenance-friendly: renews sealing surfaces to prevent corrosion and interior damage.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 30-60 minutes
Instructions:
- Park vehicle on level ground and open the door to be serviced. Gather tools and the new weatherstrip kit.
- Carefully remove the old weatherstrip: pull it out of the channel and remove any retaining clips or fasteners. Use a trim tool to avoid damaging paint.
- Clean the channel and surrounding area thoroughly. Remove old adhesive and dirt using a plastic scraper and rubbing alcohol. Allow surface to dry.
- Test-fit the new seal along the door perimeter to confirm orientation and length. Trim excess material if necessary, leaving a small overlap at corners.
- Apply a thin, even bead of weatherstrip adhesive to the channel (or to the weatherstrip base if recommended by the adhesive manufacturer).
- Starting at one end, press the new weatherstrip firmly into the channel, working in small sections to ensure full engagement. Align corners and mating edges as you go.
- Use masking tape or spring clamps to hold the weatherstrip in place while the adhesive sets, paying attention to critical contact points and corners.
- Trim any excess material cleanly with a utility knife and smooth corners for a neat finish.
- Allow adhesive to cure per the adhesive manufacturer's instructions (typically 30 minutes to several hours) before closing the door.
- Test door operation and inspect for even sealing and proper latch engagement. Reinstall any trim or fasteners removed during disassembly.
