Outer tie rod end (right / left hand) designed for 2004–2012 Chevrolet, Pontiac and Saturn vehicles. This critical steering component connects the steering rack to the steering knuckle, translating steering input into wheel movement while maintaining alignment and absorbing suspension movement. Engineered for reliable fit and long service life, it restores precise steering response, reduces play, and helps prevent uneven tire wear. Corrosion-resistant materials and a durable ball-and-socket joint provide dependable performance under everyday driving conditions.
Features:
- Fits 2004–2012 Chevrolet, Pontiac and Saturn models — outer tie rod end, right or left hand application.
- Premium forged steel construction with hardened ball stud for strength and longevity.
- Secures the steering linkage to the steering knuckle to maintain alignment and steering precision.
- Precision-matched taper and thread for correct OE-style fit and easy replacement.
- Greaseable or sealed designs available to reduce wear and extend service life (vehicle dependent).
- Corrosion-resistant finish helps protect against road salt and environmental damage.
- Ideal for steering system restoration, replacing worn or damaged outer tie rod ends to eliminate play and improve handling.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 45-90 minutes per side
Instructions:
- Park on level ground, engage parking brake, loosen wheel lug nuts slightly.
- Raise the vehicle with a jack and secure it on jack stands. Remove the wheel.
- Locate the outer tie rod end at the steering knuckle. Remove the cotter pin (if present) and loosen the castle nut or retaining nut on the tie rod stud.
- Mark the position of the tie rod end on the tie rod with a marker or count turns to preserve approximate toe alignment.
- Use a tie rod puller or a pickle fork and hammer to separate the tie rod end stud from the steering knuckle. Remove the retaining nut and extract the tie rod end.
- Unscrew the tie rod end from the inner tie rod to remove it. Compare the new part to the old one for thread and taper match.
- Screw the new outer tie rod end onto the inner tie rod to the previously marked position (or the same number of turns), then insert the stud into the steering knuckle and install the retaining nut. Torque the nut to the vehicle manufacturer's specification and install a new cotter pin if required.
- Tighten the tie rod jam nut (if applicable) to secure the adjustment, then re-install the wheel and lower the vehicle.
- Torque the wheel lug nuts to specification. Because toe alignment may be affected, have a professional wheel alignment performed after installation.
