Front lower ball joint designed for 1982–2005 Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Oldsmobile and Pontiac models. This replacement ball joint secures the lower control arm to the steering knuckle, maintaining proper wheel alignment and suspension geometry. Built to restore steering precision and reduce play, it helps prevent uneven tire wear and improves handling. Durable construction resists wear and corrosion for reliable long-term performance, and the part is supplied with the components needed for a straightforward replacement of worn or damaged factory joints.

  • Socket and wrench set
  • Ball joint press or removal tool
  • Hammer and pry bar
  • Torque wrench
  • Needle-nose pliers
  • Penetrating oil
Instructions:
  1. Park on level ground, engage parking brake, loosen front lug nuts slightly.
  2. Safely raise vehicle and support with jack stands; remove front wheel.
  3. Use penetrating oil on fasteners and remove cotter pin and castellated nut from the ball joint stud.
  4. Separate the ball joint stud from the steering knuckle using a ball joint separator or pickle fork; support the control arm to avoid damage.
  5. If applicable, remove any retaining bolts or snap rings securing the ball joint to the control arm.
  6. Press or drive out the old ball joint using a ball joint press or appropriate driver.
  7. Clean the control arm bore and inspect for damage; replace control arm if excessively worn or damaged.
  8. Press the new ball joint into the control arm until fully seated; install any retaining clips or bolts per part design.
  9. Install the ball joint stud into the steering knuckle, torque the nut to manufacturer specification and install a new cotter pin if required.
  10. Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque lug nuts to specification.
  11. Have a professional alignment performed after installation to ensure correct geometry and tire wear.
