Outer tie rod end (right/left hand) designed to restore precise steering and suspension geometry on 1997–2009 Buick, Chevrolet, Oldsmobile, Pontiac and Saturn vehicles. This direct-fit replacement secures the steering linkage to the wheel knuckle, eliminating play, improving handling, and preventing premature tire wear. Built for durability and reliable performance, it provides consistent steering response and long service life for restoration and maintenance projects.
Features:
- Fits 1997–2009 Buick, Chevrolet, Oldsmobile, Pontiac and Saturn models (outer tie rod end, right/left hand).
- Direct OE-style replacement for a precise fit and correct steering geometry.
- High-strength steel stud and housing with corrosion-resistant coating for long life.
- Replaces worn tie rod ends to remove play, restore steering precision and reduce uneven tire wear.
- Sealed ball joint design with a durable boot to retain grease and resist contaminants.
- Easy to install with common hand tools; preserves alignment when installed using turn-count method.
- Suitable for restoration or routine suspension maintenance and repair.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 3/5
- Estimated time: 60-90 minutes (per side)
Instructions:
- Park on a level surface, engage parking brake and block rear wheels for safety.
- Loosen front wheel lug nuts slightly, then raise the vehicle with a jack and support with jack stands. Remove the wheel.
- Locate the outer tie rod end connected to the steering knuckle. Apply penetrating oil to the castle nut and mating threads if needed.
- Remove the cotter pin from the castle nut using pliers and discard it.
- Loosen and remove the castle nut securing the tie rod end stud to the knuckle.
- Separate the tie rod end from the knuckle using a tie rod end puller or a pickle fork. Strike the knuckle lightly if necessary to free the stud.
- Count the number of turns required to unscrew the tie rod end from the inner tie rod (or measure the exposed thread length) to preserve alignment settings.
- Unscrew the old tie rod end from the inner tie rod and remove it.
- Screw the new tie rod end onto the inner tie rod the same number of turns (or to the same measured position) to approximate alignment.
- Insert the new tie rod end stud into the steering knuckle, install the castle nut and torque to the vehicle manufacturer’s specification.
- Install a new cotter pin through the castle nut and stud, bending the pin ends to secure it.
- Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque the lug nuts to specification.
- Test drive carefully and have a professional wheel alignment performed as soon as possible to ensure correct steering geometry and tire wear.
