Inner tie rod end designed to replace worn or damaged inner tie rods on a wide range of GM vehicles from 1973–2005. This right/left-hand unit features a grease port on the end of the housing for easy lubrication and extended service life. Built to OEM-style dimensions for proper steering geometry, it secures the inner tie rod to the rack or steering linkage, reducing play and restoring precise steering feel. Ideal for restoration and maintenance projects, it delivers durable performance and reliability under normal driving conditions.
Features:
  • Fits 1973–2005 Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC, Oldsmobile, and Pontiac applications (inner tie rod end, right or left hand).
  • Grease port on end of housing for convenient lubrication and extended component life.
  • Constructed to OEM-style specifications for correct fitment and steering alignment.
  • Durable steel housing with corrosion-resistant finish for long-lasting reliability.
  • Restoration-ready replacement that reduces steering play and improves handling.
  • Simple installation and serviceability; suitable for professional or DIY repairs.
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 3/5
  • Estimated time: 45-90 minutes per side
Suggested Tools:
  • Jack and jack stands
  • Wheel chocks
  • Lug wrench
  • Wrenches and socket set (sizes vary by vehicle)
  • Tie rod end puller or pickle fork
  • Torque wrench
  • Grease gun
  • Pliers
  • Marker or paint for alignment reference
Instructions:
  1. Park vehicle on level ground, engage parking brake and chock rear wheels.
  2. Loosen front wheel lug nuts, raise vehicle with jack and support on jack stands; remove wheel.
  3. Locate the inner tie rod end and mark the position of the old inner tie rod relative to the rack or steering linkage for a rough alignment reference.
  4. Remove any retaining clips or fasteners securing the outer tie rod to the steering knuckle, then separate the outer tie rod end using a tie rod end puller or pickle fork.
  5. Loosen the jam nut on the outer tie rod and unthread the outer tie rod end from the inner assembly; remove the outer assembly as needed to access the inner tie rod.
  6. Remove the retaining nut or fastener securing the inner tie rod to the rack; unthread and remove the old inner tie rod using an appropriate inner tie rod tool or adjustable wrench.
  7. Compare the new inner tie rod to the old part to confirm correct orientation (right or left hand thread as applicable) and confirm grease port location.
  8. Thread the new inner tie rod onto the rack to the marked reference position; tighten to the vehicle manufacturer’s specified torque using a torque wrench.
  9. Reinstall the outer tie rod end and tighten the jam nut to secure the assembly; torque all fasteners to specification.
  10. Use a grease gun to lubricate through the grease port until boot expansion or recommended interval is reached.
  11. Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque wheel lug nuts to specification.
  12. Have a professional wheel alignment performed after installation to ensure proper steering geometry and tire wear.
