This 4-piece left and right vent glass weatherstrip seal kit restores and seals the vent (quarter) windows on 1966 2-door Volkswagen sedans. The kit replaces worn, cracked, or hardened rubber to prevent water intrusion, reduce wind noise and vibration, and protect interior trim and painted surfaces. Molded from durable, UV- and ozone-resistant rubber, each strip is formed to match the original channel profile for a snug, long-lasting seal. Easy to trim and seat, the kit is ideal for restoration projects and routine maintenance to return factory-style sealing performance.
Features:
- Fits 1966 Volkswagen 2-door sedans (left and right vent glass; 4-piece kit).
- Constructed from durable, UV- and ozone-resistant rubber for long service life.
- Restores proper vent glass sealing to prevent leaks, wind noise, and vibration.
- Precision-molded profile for a secure, factory-style fit and easy installation.
- Ideal for classic restoration or direct replacement of worn vent glass seals.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 30-60 minutes
Instructions:
- Remove the vent glass assembly or swing-out vent if needed per vehicle-specific procedure to gain access to the old seals.
- Carefully pry out and remove the old weatherstrip pieces from the vent glass channel and door frame; note orientation and sequence.
- Clean the channel and surrounding metal with solvent and a cloth to remove old adhesive, dirt, and debris; allow to dry.
- Test-fit the new rubber seals on the vent glass and frame to confirm correct orientation and fit before final installation.
- Apply a thin film of silicone lubricant or soapy water into the channel and on the new seal to ease installation.
- Starting at one end, press the new seal into the channel, working along the length and ensuring the rubber fully seats into the groove; use a plastic trim tool if needed.
- Trim any excess material with scissors or a utility knife for a clean fit at corners and ends.
- If the rubber is stiff in cold weather, warm it slightly with a heat gun or hair dryer to improve flexibility and seating.
- Reinstall the vent glass assembly and hardware; operate the vent to check for smooth movement and inspect for gaps or leaks.
- Test for leaks with a water spray and check for wind noise at speed; adjust or reseat seals as needed.
