A 1/8" front-end alignment shim engineered for 1964–1972 GM cars to help restore proper steering geometry. This precision spacer is used to correct caster and camber by adding measured clearance at suspension mounting points during alignment or restoration. Built from high‑strength steel with a corrosion-resistant finish, the shim provides durable, reliable service and helps reduce uneven tire wear while improving handling. Simple, low-profile design makes it easy to install as part of routine alignment work or a full restoration.
Features:
  • Fits 1964–1972 GM cars — verify fitment for your specific model before installation.
  • 1/8" (0.125") thickness provides a predictable, repeatable correction for caster/camber adjustments.
  • High‑strength steel construction with corrosion-resistant finish for long-lasting performance.
  • Helps correct caster and camber to reduce tire wear and improve steering response.
  • Low‑profile shim design installs between suspension mounting surfaces for precise alignment correction.
  • Ideal for restorations and routine maintenance to return factory steering geometry.
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 3/5
  • Estimated time: 30-60 minutes (both sides)
Suggested Tools:
  • Floor jack
  • Jack stands
  • Wheel chocks
  • Socket/wrench set
  • Torque wrench
  • Pry bar or support jack (for holding control arm)
  • Camber/caster gauge or take-to-align shop
Instructions:
  1. Park vehicle on a level surface, set parking brake and chock rear wheels.
  2. Loosen front wheel lug nuts slightly, raise the front of the car with a floor jack and support securely on jack stands. Remove the front wheel.
  3. Locate the suspension mounting point where the shim will be installed (typically at the control arm or bushing mounting surface). Consult the vehicle service manual for the exact location and procedure for your model.
  4. Support the control arm with a support jack or pry bar and carefully loosen or remove the mounting bolts enough to create a gap for the shim. Do not allow the control arm to drop uncontrolled.
  5. Place the 1/8" shim in the mating surface so it sits flush and fully engages the mounting faces. Ensure correct orientation and that the shim does not interfere with any moving components.
  6. Reinstall or tighten the mounting bolts and torque to the factory specification shown in the service manual.
  7. Repeat the procedure on the opposite side if a matched correction is required.
  8. Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque the lug nuts to specification.
  9. Perform a professional front-end alignment (camber/caster/toe) after installation or verify alignment with a gauge. Test drive and re-check torque after initial road use.
