Instructions:
- Work in a well-ventilated area and disconnect the negative battery terminal to eliminate ignition sources.
- Drain remaining fuel from the old tank into an approved container, or siphon fuel per local codes.
- Raise and securely support the vehicle with jack stands or use a lift; ensure stable support before crawling underneath.
- Disconnect fuel lines, vent line, filler neck hose, and electrical connections (fuel sender) using suitable wrenches; label lines if needed.
- Support the tank with a floor jack or a second helper, then remove the tank straps or mounting hardware.
- Lower the old tank and inspect mounting areas, straps, filler neck, and frame for corrosion or damage; clean mounting surfaces.
- Transfer the fuel sender and any required fittings from the old tank to the new tank if applicable, using new gaskets or sealant as recommended.
- Install the new galvanized tank into position, raise it into place, and loosely secure with straps or mounting hardware.
- Reconnect the filler neck, vent line, fuel feed/return lines, and electrical connections using fuel-grade hoses and proper clamps; tighten fittings to specifications.
- Tighten tank straps to secure the tank, lower the vehicle, then refill with a small amount of fuel and check for leaks.
- Start the vehicle and cycle the system while inspecting for leaks or abnormal odors; recheck hose clamps and fittings after a short test drive.
