High-strength 7/16-20 x 1.5" wheel lug stud bolt designed for 1954–1988 GM cars and trucks. This stud secures the wheel to the hub, providing a reliable connection that resists loosening, vibration, and corrosion. Manufactured from heat-treated alloy steel with a corrosion-resistant finish, it delivers long-lasting durability and dependable performance for restorations, repairs, and everyday driving. Easy to install and engineered to meet OEM thread and fitment standards, it’s an ideal replacement when restoring classic GM vehicles or refreshing worn hardware.
Features:
  • Fits 1954–1988 GM cars and trucks (7/16-20 thread, 1.5" length).
  • Heat-treated alloy steel for superior strength and fatigue resistance.
  • Corrosion-resistant finish helps prevent rust and seizing in the hub.
  • Precisely machined 7/16-20 thread for secure wheel mounting and OEM fit.
  • Designed to reduce vibration and maintain wheel alignment under load.
  • Simple replacement part for restorations or routine maintenance.
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 2/5
  • Estimated time: 15–30 minutes per stud (approx.); 1–2 hours per axle
Suggested Tools:
  • Floor jack and jack stands
  • Socket set and breaker bar
  • Torque wrench
  • Large washer and matching nut (for stud seating) or stud installer tool
  • Hammer or press (as needed)
  • Penetrating oil
  • Wire brush or clean rag
  • Caliper hanger or strap (to support brake caliper)
  • Punch or drift (if removing old studs by tapping)
Instructions:
  1. Park vehicle on level ground, set parking brake, and chock opposite wheels.
  2. Loosen wheel lug nuts slightly while vehicle is on the ground.
  3. Raise vehicle with a jack and secure on jack stands; remove the wheel.
  4. Remove brake caliper and rotor as necessary to access the hub (support caliper to avoid strain on brake hose).
  5. Apply penetrating oil to the old stud and hub area if removing a seized stud.
  6. Remove the old stud by pressing it out or driving it out from the back of the hub using a punch or press.
  7. Clean the hub bore with a wire brush or rag to remove debris and corrosion.
  8. Insert the new stud from the back of the hub, ensuring splines align and the stud seats in the bore.
  9. Place a large washer and nut onto the stud from the wheel side and tighten the nut to draw the stud fully into the hub. Use a torque wrench and tighten to manufacturer’s seating recommendation (commonly in the 80–120 ft·lb range) or until the stud head is fully seated; consult vehicle-specific specs.
  10. Reinstall rotor and brake caliper, torque caliper bolts to spec, then remount the wheel and hand-tighten lug nuts.
  11. Lower the vehicle, then torque wheel lug nuts to the vehicle manufacturer’s specified torque.
  12. After 50–100 miles of driving, recheck and retorque lug nuts to ensure proper seating.
