This 20-piece rear window molding clip kit provides OEM-style fastening for the 1968–1972 Chevrolet El Camino rear window molding. The clips secure and align the molding to the body flange, preventing wind noise, vibration, and water intrusion while protecting the glass and painted surfaces. Built for reliable restoration or maintenance, the clips deliver consistent fitment and long-lasting performance, making reinstallation of the rear window trim straightforward and helping restore factory appearance.
Features:
- Fits 1968–1972 Chevrolet El Camino rear window molding (20-piece set).
- Durable steel construction with a corrosion-resistant finish for long service life.
- Secures and aligns rear window molding to reduce vibration, wind noise and leaks.
- Direct replacement for worn, broken or missing factory clips — ideal for restorations.
- Easy to install with simple hand tools; ensures correct trim positioning and appearance.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 30-60 minutes
Instructions:
- Park vehicle on a level surface, set parking brake, and wear gloves and eye protection.
- Carefully remove the old molding: use a trim tool or flat screwdriver to pry the molding away from the body, working slowly to avoid damaging the glass or paint.
- Remove any remaining old clip remnants from the body flange and molding channel. Use needle-nose pliers and penetrating lubricant if clips are corroded.
- Clean the mounting area and molding channel of dirt, sealant and old adhesive using a rag and mild cleaner; allow to dry.
- Test-fit new clips by aligning them with the original clip locations or along the molding channel at even intervals as required by the molding profile.
- Seat each clip onto the body flange or into the molding channel per the original orientation (some clips press into the body, others clip onto the molding). Ensure clips are fully engaged and aligned.
- Reinstall the molding by sliding or pressing it onto the installed clips. Use a rubber mallet or soft-faced hammer and a protective block to tap the molding into place evenly until all clips snap in.
- Inspect the installed molding for even fit and gaps. Make minor adjustments as needed to ensure a flush, secure fit.
- Clean the area and remove any protective tape. Road-test at low speed to check for wind noise or movement, then re-check clip tightness if necessary.
