Direct-fit heater box cover engineered for small block V8 applications on classic GM muscle cars. Fits Camaro and Firebird (1967–1981), A-Body cars (1964–1972) and Nova (1969–1974) when the vehicle is equipped without air conditioning. This stamped-steel cover seals and protects the heater box opening, preventing debris intrusion and restoring a correct factory appearance. Its durable corrosion-resistant finish and OEM-style fit make it a reliable, long-lasting replacement that simplifies restoration and maintenance while maintaining proper heater duct routing and engine bay cleanliness.
Features:
  • Fits Camaro / Firebird 1967–1981, A-Body 1964–1972, and Nova 1969–1974 for small block V8s without air conditioning.
  • Stamped steel construction for strength and authentic OEM fitment.
  • Seals and protects the heater box opening to prevent debris and moisture entry.
  • Corrosion-resistant finish resists rust and maintains appearance under the hood.
  • Direct replacement for original covers — restores factory look during restoration or maintenance.
  • Bolt-on installation designed for straightforward, reliable attachment.
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 2/5
  • Estimated time: 30-60 minutes
Suggested Tools:
  • Socket set and ratchet
  • Torque wrench
  • Flathead screwdriver or gasket scraper
  • Brake cleaner or solvent
  • Shop rags
  • Gasket sealant (if required) or replacement gasket
Instructions:
  1. Park vehicle on level ground, set parking brake, and disconnect the negative battery terminal as a safety precaution.
  2. Remove any components obstructing access to the heater box cover (air cleaner assembly, hoses, or brackets as needed).
  3. Unfasten and remove the old heater box cover bolts. Retain hardware if reusable or replace with new fasteners.
  4. Clean the mating surface thoroughly with solvent and a scraper to remove old gasket material, dirt, and oil. Ensure a flat, dry surface.
  5. If a gasket is used, position a new gasket or apply a thin bead of high-temperature gasket sealant to the mating surface per sealant instructions.
  6. Align the new heater box cover on the heater box opening and hand-start the bolts to ensure proper alignment.
  7. Tighten bolts in a crisscross pattern to seat the cover evenly. Torque bolts to approximately 10–15 ft-lbs, or follow factory torque specs if available.
  8. Reinstall any removed components (air cleaner, hoses, brackets), reconnect the negative battery terminal, and start the vehicle to inspect fit and check for unusual noises or air leaks.
  9. After a short test run, recheck bolt tightness and inspect the area for secure fitment.
