Complete left quarter panel for 1970-1972 Chevrolet Chevelle Convertible designed to replace rusted or damaged sheetmetal and restore the original body lines. This full replacement panel restores structural integrity, correct wheelwell and trunk sealing surfaces, and provides factory-style mounting points for accurate fitment. Manufactured from heavy-gauge steel with factory-correct contours, it is ideal for restorations or collision repairs where durability, reliable alignment, and a clean finish are required.
Features:
  • Fitment: 1970-1972 Chevrolet Chevelle Convertible — left (driver) quarter panel, complete
  • Heavy-gauge steel construction for long-lasting strength and corrosion resistance
  • Precision-formed, factory-correct contours and mounting points for accurate alignment
  • Complete assembly reduces fabrication and speeds restoration or collision repair
  • Restores structural integrity, wheelwell sealing surfaces, and trunk/drape fitment
  • Designed for welding-in and professional bodyshop finishing — durable and reliable
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 4/5
  • Estimated time: 4-12 hours (professional shop may require longer for disassembly, welding, and finishing)
Suggested Tools:
  • Angle grinder/cutting tools
  • MIG/TIG welder
  • Clamps and panel alignment tools
  • Drill and spot-weld cutter
  • Hammer and dolly set
  • Seam sealer and rust inhibitor
  • Primer, paint, and finishing supplies
  • Safety gear (gloves, eye protection, respirator)
Instructions:
  1. Prepare vehicle: disconnect battery, raise vehicle, remove wheel, interior trim, and any obstructing components to access the quarter panel.
  2. Assess and mark: inspect the existing panel, mark cut lines, and identify spot welds and overlap seams to be removed.
  3. Cut out old panel: carefully cut or grind away the damaged panel and remove residual spot-welds and corrosion, preserving any reusable mounting flanges where possible.
  4. Test fit new panel: position the replacement quarter panel and check alignment with door, trunk, and rocker panels; make minor trim or flange adjustments as needed.
  5. Clamp and tack-weld: clamp the panel in place, verify gaps and fitment, then tack-weld at multiple points to hold position and prevent warpage.
  6. Final weld and seam finish: complete welding in short increments, stitch-weld to minimize heat distortion; grind welds smooth and dress seams.
  7. Treat and seal: apply rust inhibitor to bare metal, seam-seal all joints, and prepare surfaces for primer and paint.
  8. Finish: apply primer, block and feather as needed, then paint and reassemble removed components. Verify door and trunk gaps and adjust if necessary.
