1964-1969 GM A-Body Center Full Floor Pan Brace is a direct-fit reinforcement designed to restore structural integrity to the center section of A-body floor pans. It stabilizes the full floor area, reduces flex and sag, and provides a solid mounting foundation for seats and drivetrain loads. Built from heavy-gauge steel with a corrosion-resistant finish, this brace is ideal for rot repair and restoration projects, offering durability, reliability, and a straightforward installation process to bring the chassis back to factory rigidity.
Features:
- Fits 1964-1969 GM A-Body vehicles (Chevelle, Malibu, Cutlass, Skylark, LeMans and other A-body models).
- Heavy-gauge steel construction for long-lasting strength and support.
- Reinforces center full floor pan to reduce flex, prevent sagging, and restore structural rigidity.
- Corrosion-resistant finish helps protect against rust and extends service life.
- Direct-fit design simplifies alignment and installation during restoration or repair.
- Ideal for rust repair, full restorations, or replacing weakened factory braces to improve safety and vehicle handling.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 3/5
- Estimated time: 2-4 hours
Instructions:
- Prepare the vehicle: disconnect the battery, remove seats and carpet to access the center floor area, and support the vehicle securely on jack stands or a lift.
- Inspect and clean: remove rust, old seam sealer, and debris from the installation area using an angle grinder and wire wheel. Repair or cut away severely corroded metal as needed.
- Test-fit the brace: position the center floor pan brace in place to verify fitment and alignment with existing floor pan features and mounting points.
- Mark and prep: mark any trimming or fitment areas on the factory floor. If necessary, drill or grind attachment points and clean mating surfaces for welding or bolting.
- Secure and align: clamp the brace into its final position. Double-check alignment and clearances for seats, brackets, and driveline components.
- Attach permanently: weld the brace to the surrounding floor pan using stitch welds or spot welding at recommended intervals, or fasten with high-grade bolts if using a bolt-on application. Ensure welds penetrate solid metal and avoid excessive heat distortion.
- Seal and protect: apply seam sealer to all welded joints and primer/paint or corrosion protection to the finished area to prevent future rust.
- Reassemble: reinstall carpet, seats, and any removed components. Perform a final inspection to confirm fitment and structural integrity.
