Direct-fit right-hand (passenger-side) replacement hood hinge for 1968 Chevelle, 1968 El Camino, 1968 Impala and 1968–1979 Chevy II / Nova. Designed to restore factory hood alignment and secure hood operation, this hinge is a durable stamped-steel repair part finished for corrosion resistance. It replaces worn, bent or damaged hinges (sold without spring) to eliminate hood sag, reduce vibration and ensure smooth opening and closing. OEM-style geometry provides correct hood gaps for restoration, collision repair, or routine maintenance, and installation is straightforward with common hand tools.
Features:
  • Fits 1968 Chevelle, 1968 El Camino, 1968 Impala and 1968–1979 Chevy II / Nova — right-hand (passenger-side) hood hinge.
  • Stamped high-strength steel construction with corrosion-resistant finish for long service life.
  • Exact OEM-style geometry for correct hood gaps and smooth operation.
  • Sold without spring — intended for vehicles that retain or transfer the original spring assembly.
  • Restoration and replacement part that eliminates hood sag, rattles and misalignment.
  • Bolt-on design for straightforward installation using common garage tools.
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 2/5
  • Estimated time: 30 minutes
Suggested Tools:
  • Socket set and ratchet
  • Combination wrenches
  • Torque wrench (optional)
  • Hood prop or helper
  • Penetrating oil
  • Safety glasses
Instructions:
  1. Open the hood and securely support it with a hood prop or have an assistant hold it in position.
  2. Apply penetrating oil to the hinge bolts if they appear corroded and let soak a few minutes.
  3. Loosen and remove the bolts attaching the old right-side hinge to the hood and fender while keeping the hood supported.
  4. Remove the old hinge and set aside any hardware or spring components to be reused (this part is supplied without a spring).
  5. Position the replacement hinge and loosely install the hood and fender mounting bolts to allow alignment adjustments.
  6. Lower the hood carefully and check gaps and alignment; adjust hinge position as necessary for even panel fit.
  7. Tighten all hinge bolts evenly and torque to manufacturer specifications if available; reattach any spring assembly or hardware.
  8. Cycle the hood several times to confirm smooth operation and correct alignment; make final adjustments as needed.
