To find out if a 1978, 1979, 1980, 1981, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987 El Camino has a 17 or 22 gallon tank, check the option sticker located in the glove box. A 22 gallon equipped El Camino will be listed with N23 option. A17 gallon car will not list a code as it is considered standard equipment. If the sticker is damaged or lost, the only other way to tell the difference is to fill an empty tank and count how many gallons it takes.
