Made from heavy-gauge steel with a corrosion-resistant finish, it protects the trunk underside and lower rear body from road damage and moisture. Designed as an OEM-style replacement to simplify restoration or rust-repair projects, offering durable, reliable performance and straightforward fitting for professional or DIY installation.
Features:
  • Fits 1971-1972 Chevrolet Chevelle (except wagon).
  • Formed from heavy-gauge steel with corrosion-resistant coating for long service life.
  • Restores original rear body contours and bumper mounting alignment.
  • Protects trunk underside and rear lower body from moisture and road debris.
  • OEM-style replacement ideal for restorations and rust repair projects.
  • Can be welded in for permanent fit or clamped/fastened where applicable for easier installation.
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 3/5
  • Estimated time: 2-4 hours (varies with rust repair and welding requirements)
Suggested Tools:
  • Floor jack and jack stands
  • Socket and wrench set
  • Screwdrivers and trim tools
  • Reciprocating saw or cutoff wheel
  • Angle grinder and flap disc
  • MIG welder (or spot welder) or rivet gun/fasteners
  • C-clamps or panel clamps
  • Drill and drill bits
  • Seam sealer and body primer
  • Paint and undercoating
  • Safety gear (gloves, eye protection, respirator)
Instructions:
  1. Park vehicle on level surface, disconnect battery, lift rear and support securely on jack stands.
  2. Remove rear bumper, taillights, trim, and any components obstructing the valance area.
  3. Inspect existing valance and surrounding metal; mark and cut away rusted or damaged sections to expose solid attachment points.
  4. Clean and prepare mating surfaces by grinding to bare metal; treat any rusted areas and make necessary panel repairs.
  5. Test-fit the replacement valance to verify alignment with trunk opening and bumper mounts; trim as needed for exact fit.
  6. Clamp the panel in place and check gaps and fitment from multiple angles before final fastening.
  7. If welding: tack-weld at multiple points, re-check alignment, then stitch or continuous-weld as required; grind welds smooth.
  8. If not welding: secure with appropriate fasteners (rivets or sheet-metal screws) and use weld-bonding adhesives where recommended.
  9. Apply seam sealer to all joints and exposed edges to prevent moisture intrusion.
  10. Prime bare metal, then paint to match vehicle finish and apply undercoating to underside for corrosion protection.
  11. Reinstall bumper, taillights, trim, and any removed hardware; reconnect battery.
  12. Perform a final inspection for fit, finish, and secure attachment; make any small adjustments as necessary.
