Left-hand trunk floor extension/drop-off engineered for the 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle to restore the trunk-to-quarter panel transition and repair common rust/damage in the driver-side rear trunk area. This stamped replacement piece reproduces the original contour and contact surfaces so it welds and seals like the factory part, improving structural integrity and preventing water intrusion when installed. Ideal for restorations and rust repair, it offers a durable, direct-fit solution that reduces fabrication time and helps return the vehicle to factory geometry.
Features:
  • Fits 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle — left-hand (driver side) trunk floor extension / drop-off.
  • Stamped steel construction with factory-correct contour for accurate fit and alignment.
  • Direct-fit replacement for corroded or damaged trunk drop-off area, minimizing fabrication.
  • Designed for weld-in installation; restores structural support and trunk seam continuity.
  • Durable repair part that helps prevent future water intrusion and corrosion when properly sealed.
  • Saves time on restoration projects by eliminating the need to recreate complex sheetmetal shapes.
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 3/5
  • Estimated time: 2–4 hours (depending on rust extent and experience)
Suggested Tools:
  • Angle grinder with cutting and grinding discs
  • Spot weld cutter or drill and bits
  • MIG welder (or suitable welding equipment) and shielding gas
  • Clamps and Vise-Grips
  • Hammer and dolly
  • Measuring tape and marker
  • Wire brush or grinder wheel
  • Metal file or flap disc
  • Rust-inhibiting primer and seam sealer
  • Protective gear (gloves, eye protection, welding helmet)
Instructions:
  1. Remove trunk trim, mat, and any accessories to expose the repair area and assess rust extent.
  2. Cut out the corroded or damaged section of the trunk floor/drop-off using an angle grinder and spot-weld cutter; retain as much solid metal as possible for reference.
  3. Clean and prepare mating surfaces by grinding back to solid metal; remove paint, rust, and contaminants.
  4. Test-fit the replacement extension; trim or relieve adjacent sheetmetal as required for an even fit and correct alignment with the quarter panel and trunk floor.
  5. Clamp the panel in position and tack-weld at multiple points to hold fitment; re-check gaps and alignment before final welding.
  6. Complete welds with short, controlled welds to minimize heat distortion (stitch weld or plug weld as appropriate), allowing cooling between passes.
  7. Grind welds flush and use a hammer/dolly to restore any minor contour differences; blend transitions for a smooth surface.
  8. Treat welded areas with a rust inhibitor or metal prep, apply seam sealer to joints to prevent moisture intrusion, then prime and paint or undercoat as required.
  9. Reinstall trunk hardware and interior components once coatings have cured and final checks confirm a proper seal and fit.
