A complete OE-style floor pan assembly engineered for 1968-1969 GM A-Body restorations. This full replacement kit includes the floor pan, full-length rocker panels and reinforcing braces to restore original underbody geometry and structural integrity. Precision-formed from heavy-gauge steel with factory-style contours and flange details, the assembly replaces corroded or damaged floors and rockers to return body alignment, improve crash safety, and eliminate squeaks and vibration. Pre-formed sections and weld-ready surfaces reduce fitment time and simplify installation for professional shops and experienced home restorers.
Features:
- Fits 1968-1969 GM A-Body vehicles (Chevelle, Malibu, Tempest/LeMans, Cutlass, Skylark).
- Complete floor pan assembly with full-length rocker panels and internal braces for full structural restoration.
- Stamped from heavy-gauge steel with OE-style profiles for accurate fit and alignment.
- Weld-ready design with factory flange details—intended for plug/slot welding and seam welding.
- Restores structural rigidity, reduces vibration, and protects interior components from road damage.
- Durable corrosion-resistant surface treatment to aid prep and long-term protection during rebuilds.
- Ideal for frame-off restorations and full-body repairs where original floor and rocker sections are compromised.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 4/5
- Estimated time: 8-12 hours (varies with experience and vehicle condition)
Instructions:
- Prepare workspace and safety: disconnect the battery, raise and securely support the vehicle, and wear appropriate PPE.
- Strip the interior and remove trim, seats, carpets, and any components covering the floor and rocker areas.
- Cut out the rusted or damaged floor pan and rocker sections using an angle grinder and spot-weld cutter—preserve undamaged structure and note original weld/seam locations.
- Clean and prep adjoining metal, remove remaining seam sealer and corrosion, and treat bare metal with rust inhibitor or primer where needed.
- Test-fit the new floor pan and rocker assemblies, making minor adjustments for exact alignment; use clamps and welding magnets to hold panels in position.
- Tack-weld panels at multiple points to verify fit; check floor alignment and body gaps before completing welds.
- Complete plug/slot and seam welds per weld sequence to minimize distortion; grind welds smooth as needed.
- Apply seam sealer to all welded joints and panel interfaces; prime and paint both top and underside to protect against corrosion.
- Reinstall interior components, trim, and insulation; check for proper fit and finish.
- Perform a final inspection for structural integrity, smoothness of repairs, and proper sealing to prevent water intrusion.
